One meal a day cooked by volunteer parents of the school children.
A village of 240 people in the far south of Madagascar had no school until one villager, Fabrice, helped build a very basic one. A teacher was provided by the government, but attendance was poor. Lack of food meant malnourished children struggled to learn.
Run by Fabrice, parents take turns volunteering to prepare and distribute meals
Poremma started providing support in September 2024, coinciding with the start of the new school year. Said support allowed the project to start and will continue until it reaches financial independence and is sustainable.
ºA kitchen was set up and meal distribution began. The variation in student attendance, and the degree of involvement of the community, and other volunteer participation is being monitored.
